UPNEEQ®
UPNEEQ® is an innovative, at-home treatment designed to address ptosis (drooping) in the upper eyelids. As of 2023, UPNEEQ® is the only prescription eyedrop solution for acquired ptosis approved by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration. This non-surgical treatment can give “droopy eyelids” a more open appearance and reduce signs of exhaustion for a more alert look. Dr. Max Lehfeldt and our team at Radiance Medical Spa can help many individuals meet their needs with this advanced option.
What Is Acquired Blepharoptosis?
Acquired blepharoptosis is a condition characterized by upper eyelids that droop too low over the eyes, ultimately producing a sleepy or excessively tired appearance. It can be caused by a number of factors, including levator muscles that become overstretched during the aging process or excessive rubbing or pulling of the eyelids over time.
How Does UPNEEQ® Work?
Composed of an oxymetazoline hydrochloride ophthalmic solution, UPNEEQ® is a prescription eyedrop that can help stimulate the muscle that keeps the upper eyelids open. This typically raises the eyelids approximately 1 millimeter, allowing for a less tired and more refreshed look. UPNEEQ® is to be applied once daily and, in most cases, the results can be apparent about 15 minutes or less after application.
What Can I Expect from the Results of UPNEEQ®?
The results of UPNEEQ® usually last about 8 to 10 hours. While side effects are very rare, patients who experience any adverse symptoms should be sure to contact our practice. Our team will explain all risks and benefits during the initial consultation and help you determine if UPNEEQ® is right for your needs.
