Injectables & Dermal Fillers
Injectables
Wrinkles on your face are often caused by muscle use, including frowning, concentrating, squinting, or even smiling. These wrinkles form through “active” conscious muscle activation and subconsciously (without you even realizing it). By having our medical spa team administer BOTOX® Cosmetic, your facial muscles are gently relaxed and the wrinkles soften with time. With regular treatments, you can see a reduction in these wrinkles and an improvement in your overall look. Facial wrinkles from muscle use and facial movement are not just for older individuals – it is common even in young adults. Consistent use of cosmetic injectables can potentially prevent wrinkles caused by facial movement from ever forming!
In addition to BOTOX® Cosmetic, our practice offers the innovative new Jeuveau® injectable treatment. Jeuveau® is composed of a solution very similar to BOTOX® Cosmetic; however, this option can be particularly advantageous for patients experiencing very deep signs of brow furrows and frown lines (glabellar lines). With Jeuveau®, both women and men can address these common concerns between the eyebrows and reduce signs of an “angry” or stressed appearance.
Dermal Fillers
Your health care professionals at Radiance Medical Spa will help you determine which fine line filler is best for your unique needs and aesthetic goals. JUVEDERM®, JUVEDERM® VOLUMA XC, Restylane®, Restylane® Lyft (Perlane®), and Radiesse® are all FDA-approved to restore volume and fullness to the areas being treated. This restored volume can result in a natural, more youthful appearance.
Areas that are typically treated with dermal fillers include:
- Smile Lines: Typically are from the bottom of the nose to the corners of the mouth – also known as “nasolabial folds” or “parenthesis lines”.
- Marionette Lines: Run from the corners of the mouth down toward the chin area. These lines can sometimes cause people to look unhappy or frowning.
- Vertical Lines Near the Mouth: These lines are often caused by sun damage, lip movement, smiling, or smoking; these fine vertical lines can develop near and around the lips and mouth.
- Lips
- Additional areas that can be enhanced with dermal fillers include cheeks, chins, noses, fill-in frown lines (the “11s” between the eyebrows), temples, lower eyelids/hollowing under the eyes, acne scars, other scars, and hollowing of the hands.
When Will I See Results?
Most patients begin to see results almost immediately. You may also see some additional swelling due to the injections for the first 2-3 days.
How Long Will These Results Last?
Typically, benefits from fillers last 6-12 months. Individual results will vary and you should discuss this with us when you come in for your treatment. You may need “touch-up” treatments to maintain optimal correction of wrinkles.
Treatment Time:
30-60 minutes. Discomfort is usually minimal to moderate. May use numbing cream, local anesthetic injections, or ice packs to aid with treatment. Many of the fillers also come mixed with numbing medication (lidocaine) for enhanced patient comfort.
Recommended Frequency Of Treatments:
Every 6-12 months.
Medications To Avoid Prior To Treatment:
Discuss with us and your primary physician your exact medication list prior to stopping, but typically avoid your blood thinners (such as aspirin, ibuprofen, alcohol, omegas, flaxseed oil, fish oil, vitamin D3, and vitamin E) for 3-5 days prior to your treatment.
Possible Side Effects:
Localized redness, tenderness, swelling, firmness, bumps, discoloration, bruising, very rare possibility of infection.
